Madeira Park, BC

Madeira Park Community Hall
Samedi 20 Mars 2010          10-4

Earthsave Sunshine Coast and Seeds of Diversity Canada will be holding the first ever Seedy Saturday in Madeira Park and starting a seed bank in Pender Harbour.

All proceeds will go toward starting an Edible Schoolyard/ Community Garden at Madeira Park Elementary. This is the first step in creating a FOOD SECURE, viable, self reliant community, prepared for any emergency. The theme is “Eat local – Grow Organic Food”

The number of people interested in gardening and growing their own food just keeps expanding. They are concerned about genetically modified food and are looking for local, organically produced seeds for their garden. Seedy Saturday will provide the opportunity for those people to come together and buy or exchange interesting and unusual heritage varieties of vegetable and flower seeds.

We invite you to rent a 3'x8' table at the event. Rental fee is $15 plus a donation for our silent auction, raffle, or door prize; product, gift certificates and or discount coupons are perfect

We are located in B.C Canada, on the Sunshine Coast, an hour North East of Gibsons.

If you are unable to attend, please send pamphlets, brochures and any other material to be placed on a display table, and a donation if possible. We anticipate attendance will be from 300-500 individuals.

Samedi 20 Mars 2010          10-2

This will be primarily an outdoor venue. Vendors should bring their own canopies, tables and chairs. No charge for vendors. No admission charge for the public.

Arrowvale Farm is, in season, a campground on the Somass River with cabins for rent. It is a working farm producing organic vegetables, pasture fed organic beef, chicken and lamb and organic pork. Big leaf maples are tapped in season. There is a variety of livestock including Canadian horses. It is also the site of a Farmers' Market each Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm, which has already started up after a brief winter shut down.

There are indoor washrooms and an indoor café. There will be coffee, muffins and cookies for sale, and a $5 lunch at noon.

There will be a seed swapping table and a variety of vendors both local and from around the Island. Farmers' Market regulars will be selling locally acclimatised organic seeds and potted plants, locally ground organic flours and cereals (creating the infrastructure to support an expansion of Island grain production), and wood-fired bread.

The Seedy Saturday will be co-sponsored by Arrowvale Farm and the Women's Food and Water Initiative (WFWI)
